
R.E.S.A. works with families affected by autism to identify the family’s unique needs and develop a personalized plan of action. R.E.S.A. focuses on advocacy, education and ongoing support to our families. All information provided to R.E.S.A. is completely confidential.
R.E.S.A. currently provides services for families in the greater Central/Upstate New York area. If your child has been diagnosed as on the spectrum or if you believe your child may be on the spectrum you may contact us by phone at (315) 882-8856 or by email at elaina@resaforautism.org to set up an intake interview.
R.E.S.A.’s services are provided at no cost to families.
When the Research program is implemented, families will have the opportunity to participate in research studies to help determine various components that effect families with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
We will collaborate with medical professionals and local universities to conduct these studies.
Some current ideas for focus include:
- Effective alternative therapies
- Enzyme protocol
- Potential causes of Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Genetic relationships pertaining to Autism Spectrum Disorder
It is our goal to have all of the studies completed to be published and shared nationwide.
Target implementation date for this program is March 1, 2011.
When the Educational Advocacy program is implemented families will receive advocacy for their children’s educational needs.
The advocate will:
- Attend CSE meetings
- Meet with the families prior to the meetings
- Explain various terms to families
- Help educate the schools on the needs of the children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The target date for implementation is December 1, 2010.
R.E.S.A. for Autism Families, Inc. will provide workshops on nutrition, alternative therapies, parenting, sensory integration, and other topics that are determined through the Needs Analysis completed by the Board of Directors.
These workshops will be opened to:
- Families with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Community members
- Agencies working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Health care professionals
By collaberating with various agencies we are able provide the best quality workshops/seminars for our families.
R.E.S.A. for Autism Families, Inc. is an agency that will be defined by our actions for the families we serve. In order for the advancement of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder we will all need to work together to make this a positive community for everyone!!!
